A robot that moves thanks to a biological "brain" created from neurons of rat will allow to the scientists of the University of Reading (United Kingdom) to have a better knowledge of how the memory works and, this way, to fight illnesses as the Alzheimer's disease and the parkinson.

The robot developed by a multidisciplinary team, is capable of moving and of avoiding obstacles with the "orders" that this "brain" gives him, without any type of human help or of computers, as announced this university in a bulletin.

The nervous conglomerate of this brain, integrated by 300.000 neurons, was extracted from the crust neural of a rat fetus and talked each other later to separate the connections between the neurons. The scientists have placed the neurons proceeding from a cultivation, on a disc integrated by about sixty electrodes that captures the signs expressed by the cells, which direct the movements of the robot.
